Don’t get me wrong.
I’m not entering spinsterhood anyday soon and far be it for me to claim that I’m a kitchen goddess but really, what beats spending your fasting weekend other than burying yourself in the kitchen and cook your heart out? (At this point you should already plant in your head that I’m good with kitchen and its utensils) 🙂
We had a little family gathering on Saturday (picture this: Uncle Hasnol, Acik, Uncle Azuwan, Induk, grandma, Pakteh and Makteh, Mak Long, cousins Bajan, Leen, Aizuddin, Luqman, Hakeem, Haziq, Nana, Taufiq and Hidayah [plus two very helpful bibiks] and my own family; mum, dad, Badi and Azree] at my house for break fast where me and mum have to cook for the guests! Boy, it was one tiresome task! We started at noon and finished just right before break fast. The dishes that we prepared were: Nasi ayam, kari daging, ikan masak kicap, mixed veggie, salad, bubur pulut hitam, sambal kicap, sirap bandung with icecream soda, and chopped watermelons. Itupun mum insisted on cooking roti jala but I said NO since I know the aunts will be kind enuff bringing foods and kuihs as add-ons. Yepp I was right, there were bubur lambuk, murtabak, laksa Penang (not a big fan tho), kuih cara berlauk, and udang masak gulai tempoyak (arghh forgot to snap picture, I tell you it was like a table in one of the Ramadhan bazaar’s stall) 🙂
I didn’t eat all that. You have to trust me – I was so busy attending to my little cousins’s needs who wants this and that. “Kak Nee, I want this, Kak Nee I want that” 🙂
Sunday, early morning my elder brother insisted me to bake my signature cake for his zillionth gf. Maybe I’m just bored (I hate going out on sunny fasting day, so I simply said yes) or perhaps because this is the first time he EVER give any of his gf anything. I figured, maybe this one’s The One. What bugged me was why la his The One has to be 4 years younger than me? Haih. What will she call me then? Sis? Arghh I hate that. OK let’s not hassle and putting that thinking cap on before it’s time. For all I know they could break up tomorrow. Heh *devilish rolled eyes*
Get this. After I finished with the cake, my bro shrieking hysterically that he mixed up the number! It was supposed to be 20 (see, I feel MUCH older now, thank you for breaking my heart 😦 )and I have to alter the writing a bit. Isyyy..
Am still wired and glued to the kitchen so soonest I’m done with the chocolate cake with Vochelle’s topping, I baked my all time favourite caramel pudding.
I owed it to Razkee who has been hagging me to bake her one since the day I told her I could do it. Crap. I left it in the fridge while rushing to work this morning. Darn.
After that helped mum prepared the break fast feast – sup tulang, taugeh goreng, ikan kembung rebus goreng, and onde-onde buah melaka.
