lost misplaced my passport. I realized that it is not in my possession on Saturday while spring cleaning in my room.
Made the police report on Wednesday evening and who says chivalry is dead? The police officers in Serdang station that I went were very helpful and efficient in their jobs as well (kudos!). I got the copy of my report in less than half an hour.
Yesterday morning, as early as 7.30am, I took off from home and already terpacak at Immigration in PBDamansara. After took the oh-so-expensive passport sized picture, I straight made my way to the front counter. I wasted my breath by walking fast-paced only to hear the receptionist say:
“Paspot hilang? Awak duduk Serdang, kene pegi Imigresen Kajang ni..”
Fine. Kajang it is then.
The clock showed 8.30am, maybe I could make it in time for work. I have to filled all the information on the form sheet before I was able to get a waiting number. After passing a queue of 10 people, the officer at the back of counter said that I have to get the signature and stamp from Commissioners for Oath regarding the report I made. And more good news, the passport only can be issued the next 30 days! I’m leaving this Monday, hellooo????
After a sugarcoated talk with the officer, he said that maybe (I repeat, maybe) I could be able to get a temporary passport. But that only can happen in HQ , which is in Shah Alam. But first I have to bring along a copy of either electric/water/telephone bill and the flight details as proof.
Grrrreat. What worse could happen right? Dropped at home for the necessary documents and next move: Shah Alam.
(My friend Wan called during this passport-replacement debacle and I answered the phone while driving. She said that I better put down the phone before anything happens. I couldn’t help but laughing when she said that. My answer was: I won’t even be surprised if I got held up by a police while driving and talking on the phone, coz today is obviously my worst day ever kan??!) 🙂
Arrived in Shah Alam around 11am, my stomach’s growling (I haven’t even got a time to grab a bite to eat) and I reallyyy222 need to pe*, but all that have to wait. Phuket is at stake here. I took the waiting number after the officer was satisfied with the information I filled in my form. Number what? 1985. And current number that is running is 1935. Isn’t this just lovely?
Killed the time by listening to the songs in my phone (yes 1gig memory card do come in handy at times) and bitching about the slowness of the services with other waiting customers.
Around 3pm, my name was called and I was being directed to the Investigation booth (for special cases only) and after a brief investigation, I was called again for my result. They will notify me in 1 month! Even I already said before that I would like to request for a temp passport.
Anybody that knows me, know thatI won’t take a no for an answer. At least not before making any efforts. I begged the officer to release me one of the temp passport – after explaining my ‘situation’ etc. I said that it was my credit card that was charged for the accomodation – and without it, how do my friends want to check in to the hotel? (I have better excuses sbenanya tpi dah weng sikit kan – low in sugar la katakan)
“Cuba try jumpa Tuan Haji R***m kat dalam tanya macamana.”
She allowed me to see the boss inside and turned out that he is an okay guy! He is the best thing that has ever happened to me yesterday-unlike those front counter officers whose highly unlikely to throw me even a smile. The boss said that I have to fill another form, write a letter and attached the supporting documents. I ran like maniac to the nearest cyber cafe (and yes it has to be at the other end to make my day even more beautiful lah kan?) I typed at 200words per minute (heh) and run upstairs and submit the docs to the officer at the counter. The clock showed 5pm. I cross-fingered that I managed to get the temp passport by the time the department closes. I could not waste another leave entitlement if I were to come pick it the next day.
You know what made me furious the most? The delivery of communications by these people. The person in Damansara could have told me straight that I can go to Shah Alam to get my passport done. And the person that process my application in Shah Alam could have told me that I can get my appeal letter done while waiting for my umphteenth number. I think this could have been done in less than 6 hours if they tell me the right thing to do instead of asking me to run here and there.
Did I managed to get it by 5.30? Better be or else……
Yes, Phuket is definitely an emergency 🙂
I better not be floating to the Philippines while snorkeling
So Phuket, you better be nice to me ah. Coz I’ve busted my ass up for this piece of travel document, just to see you and embrace your beauty. Till then. Expect my entry after the 20th. Daaaaa..
