Tomorrow, all Moslems all around the world (or perhaps some part of the world already started fasting today) will start fasting. This is the month where we challenge ourselves, not only in terms of refraining ourselves from eating and drinking during daylights, but also abstaining ourselves from doing other things that might cause our fast becomes void. This is the month where we can gain extra pahala by performing ibadah and be good to other humankind. My resolution for this month to come?
I don’t have any specific resolution, but I have always told myself to limit my entertainment activities and put extra efforts to earn that extra pahala all along the month. I am not an avid terawikh prayer, per say, but I will try my best to perform at least once a week (heh). Further, this is the perfect month to finally realise the all-time favourite resolution – to lose some weigh! Hopefully I won’t be blinded by the spicy ayam percik and char kuew tiau and other scrumptious cuisines being sold at the bazaar Ramadhan. (What’s there not to love about Ramadhan? Somehow, the foods seemed tastier during this month!).
I remembered vividly during schooldays, where we were ‘forced’ to perform terawikh prayer at our school gymnasium. Imagine this, there were only a few ceiling fans to cover the whole gym. It was damn hot! Attendance was compulsory but I tried to escape as many times as I can. There are a number of prefects watching guard at the backdoor (and I’m sure they’re more concern about us than their prayers) but me and few other culprits (can’t recall who they were) will sneak from the backdoor with sole excuse to ‘renew’ our wudhu’ and off we go! Arghh, those were the days…
Last year, I didn’t get a chance to indulge myself as much performing the ibadah as I was too engrossed with somebody during that time. And I regret my whole life for that, for letting a person I barely know to ruin my whole Ramadhan. This year I will make sure it won’t happen again.
All being said, let’s pray that we will be healthy throughout the month and be blessed by Him.
Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan al-Mubarak kawan-kawan…
Ps: Hmmm..What to eat ya tomorrow… during break fast? 🙂
